The 8minute London 2012 Performance

The 8 minute London 2012 erformance in Beijing Olympic closing ceremony cost 2.5million pound. And the UK people think it was crap. So funny. haha.. It really wasn't very good. And nobody understand why did it has to cost that much. I supposed most of it goes to the celebrities? David Beckham in particular? But hosting the 30th Olympic will be UK's pride, if they indeed charge that much, then it's a little too much.

I had a slight annoyance when the mayor of London Boris Johnson took over the flat. And indeed, it's being ridicule all over the world now. His coat unbuttoned, hands in pocket, messy hair, goofy attitude... Apparently he is famous of his messy hair.

And flew David Beckham there, just to appear and kick the football once. Kind of stupid... And messy dance, don't know what they are trying to tell. When the double decker bus's door opened, the crowd rushed to the door, pushing and pulling, were they trying to tell us Londoners are like that? Then the kid walked on the adults, what are they trying to say? That the kid is sacred that she can't walk on the ground? Or that London kids are rude and they walk over adults' bodies? I don't get it. Do you?

McDonald's commercial

I lovvvveee McDonald's. All my friends know that. And naturally, I like McDonald's commercials. EXCEPT for the recent ones that's on TV in Singapore.

It just show people go, "Ehm, you know, it's kind of er, ehm, kind of er.. you know, kind of, kind, kind of good!".

What the hell... IT IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING. And I'm definitely NOT "loving it" (McD's commercial line : I'm loving it.)

You know? it's kind of, kind of, you know? kind of, kind of er, KIND OF ANNOYINGGGGGG.

The true spirit of the Games

Twelve years ago, on a warm Barcelona night, Pyambuu Tuul staggered towards the Olympic stadium determined to finish what he had started.
The last athlete competing at the 1992 Games, the Mongolian marathon runner was long overdue and he ended up being cheated of his moment of glory after four hours of agony.

The King and Queen of Spain gave up waiting, the closing ceremony was set in motion and, surrounded by six police motorcycles and with an ambulance in attendance, Tuul was shunted on to a warm-up track to complete his race.

Twelve months earlier, Tuul had vowed to run in the Olympic marathon when he regained his sight in one eye after 13 years of blindness. His race ended without a spectator in view.

Tuul's tale of athletic courage has been repeated many times since the first Olympic marathon was run in 1896 from Marathon to Athens, a course to be repeated on Sunday in the final act of the 2004 Olympics.

In the 1968 race, John Akhwari of Tanzania hobbled into the Mexico City stadium, bloodied, unbowed and very much last. He had injured his knee in a fall but ground through the pain to finish one hour behind the winner, Ethiopian Mamo Wolde.

Asked why he had carried on, Akhwari replied: "My country did not send me 5,000 miles to start the race, they sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race."

The idea of competing and completing, rather than trying to win medals, has a special allure for marathon runners.


INJURED LEG

In 1996, Afghanistan's Abdul Baser Wasigi appeared in the Atlanta stadium nearly 4-1/2 hours after starting the race. He had injured his leg shortly after arriving in the U.S. and was forced to walk much of the marathon.

Crews were preparing for the closing ceremony but volunteers removed tarpaulins covering the track and persuaded the band to stop their rehearsal and pipe Wasigi across the finishing line.

"This is what the Olympics is all about - the spirit of competition," said the official in charge of the venue.

A strong favourite to finish last on Sunday is Gil da Cruz Trinidade of East Timor, a new entry to the Games. His personal best is about 45 minutes over the world record and he is in the race thanks to a wild card granted by Olympic officials.

"The most important thing for me in Athens is to finish," said Cruz Trinidade this week.

He will hopefully enjoy a better reception than Tuul did in 1992.

His day had begun badly when he dropped and broke his glasses. The 33-year-old patched them up with sticky tape and set off hoping nothing else would go wrong.

His finishing time of four hours four minutes was 56 minutes slower than the second to last athlete, Hussein Haleen of the Maldives, who had collapsed at the makeshift finish and was rushed to a nearby clinic.

After finishing, Tuul gave the thumbs-up to a couple of journalists. "I am just a runner. As the last runner in the Olympics I am very much satisfied," he said with a smile.

Great people, these are. I salute them. I don't think I can continue a race or competition when I'm injured or when I know I am "long overdue" at the finishing line... Great people.

Beijing Olympic closure

There it went. 16 days of world class competition by world class athletes. Kind of sad that it is now over. I really love Olympics. It's a chance for the athletes who have worked so hard all these years, to show the world what they can do, what they can achieve. You feel for them when they fell from balance beam, you feel for them when they dropped their batons, you feel for them when they failed to complete their summersault. But you also feel for them when they broke world record, you cheer for them, you are happy for them. SOme touching stories that happened to the athletes, made me want to cry too. When I see athletes cry out of happiness when they've finally won a medal, my eyes are wet too.

I just lovvveee Olympics. It's really a great thing people all over the world can compete in one place.

The Olympic closing ceremony just finished. My feeling was, is that all? People and newspaper all over were wondering how will they extinguish the olympic flame. They were remembering how it was in Athen : 2 kids "blow out" the flame. And people are anxiously wanting to know how China will present this. But before I know, the flame was slowly being extinguish. What..? I don't get it. But closing ceremonies are usually boring. So was this. But anyway, I do think that China has done a good job. However I don't think it's fair to compare this with other Olympics as China has gone all out regardless of how much to be spent, to impress the world. UK has raised its funding for the Olympic games to 0.9billion dollars (US dollar if not mistaken). Even when they've raised the budget it's not even half of China's 2billion dollars spent. If I'm not mistaken that was the amount of money spent ONLY for the opening ceremony. My point is, with that kind of money, they are sure to do an impressive job. Anyway, whatever it is, BEijing did do a great job hosting this Olympic game.

Btw, I've taken a liking with the mascots after watching their "funny dance". Asked my brother to buy me one from Beijing since he was there. I like the panda Jing Jing. But the toy Jing JIng doesn't look so cute. So bought the Ying Ying instead. I like its eyes. Quite cute hor?

American sunflower

See the american sunflower my brother planted~~ So tall~ it's supposed to be able to grow to 2 men's height. I asked my mother to stand there to show its height in relative to her height. She is about 150cm tall.
I stood on a chair in an attempt to take a good look of the flower. But... even standing up on a chair, I am shorter than the flower. hahahahaha...

Beijing Olympic Mascot

The other day, I don't remember when, I saw a video in Youtube of the Beijing Olympic mascot dance during a resting time. It's the panda JingJing. It danced to the Crazy Frog music and it was soooo cute and hilarious.

I want to find the video again and I couldn't find it. I looked through allllll the videos under "fuwa", "beijing mascot", "olympic mascot", etc etc. And I still couldn't find it. THIS IS FRUSTRATING!!!

I've been searching for hours. Ridiculous. There's one which was recorded during Spore vs China's table tennis final, similar with that. But not that one. I searched my internet history but somehow I couldn't find it either. UUURRGGHHH..... anybody sees that video please forward to me..

Miko video

Previously I uploaded miko's video in Vidilife. One day, I just couldn't log in no matter what. When I tried the "forgot password" option they said my email was not in the database. Perhaps I did not log in for sometime and the membership was cancelled.

Anyway, I'm using Youtube now. So I made this video and upload to youtube again.

Stupid Maserati driver

WHAT.AN.IDIOT.

The owner of this Maserati sports car, thinks his car is so great that it requires 2 parking lots. (The two people beside the car were not the owner)

"SUPERB" parking skill he's got there. Right in the middle of 2 parking lots and right on top of the line separating the parking lots. How BRILLIANT! Let's celebrate this brilliant driver! Yay!
I felt like to write on a paper: "If you cannot park, do not drive." and put on his windscreen. WHAT AN IDIOT DRIVER.

Perhaps he (or she) deliberately do this, so that people will notice this brilliant sports car. Little does he/she knows, it makes him/her looked extremely stupid. A moron driver.

After the lost

After LCW's lost, everybody said Lin Dan is so cool, LD is so good, LD is so fast. LCW can be as good, LCW can be as fast, but maybe not as cool and not as hao lian.

But the way he lost that match, made LD looked superb. LCW wasn't in a good form. He wasn't the same person in semi-final. Maybe LD's cool face intimidated him.

I am really "buay song" (indignant). LCW and LD's ability is not too far apart. If LCW is in good form, he can very much win LD. We lost on the mentality weakness that's so typical to Malaysian players. Now everybody sees LD as the hero.

I am very disappointed with LCW's performance, he wasn't the usual self yesterday but if he can overcome the mental barrier he is a very good player. My colleagues and I were talking about this and I said I've never seen top ranking players lost in such an ugly way (LCW rank 2nd in the world). And my colleagues who is one of Spore's so called "foreign talent" from China, commented "You all have been befuddled by the ranking system. Ability is the most important thing."

HELLO??!! What is the ranking system based on?? All ranking system is based on ability, based on how many world class tournament they've won, and we've all been befuddled by the ranking system???!!! If one does not have the ability, will he or she win world class tournament??? Gosh... RIDICULOUS!

India won a gold medal in shooting. He commented, what lousy Olympic, let Indian win a gold. I was like ???????!! People from poor country cannot win gold?!! That particular athlete trained for 10years to win this gold. What right does he has to say "lousy". RIDICULOUS! One is poor or one is rich is NOT what we based on to judge people. Unless you're judging "the world's richest" man or woman. Funny thinking man. I know he's patriotic. I know he thinks everything from China is the best. But that's not always the case. The world doesn't live only the Chinese. We should not be so narrow-minded.

Lost, again, for no good reason

Well, Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei lost it, lost it badly. It was unbelievably ugly. To think that a reporter said he is the only player in our country that seems to think, seems to play with brain and change his moves against different opponent. This match against Lin Dan, he played so predictably from the very beginning, and Lin Dan knows his every move and waiting to strike at the exact position.

At one point, Lin Dan had a comfortable lead of 8:0! Eight Zero!!!!!! This is totally unacceptable. LCW made sooooo many unforced errors. Lin Dan completely controlled the game from the very beginning. He gave LCW a lot of cruel smashes at the net. It was excruciating to watch...

Singapore table tennis lost as well. But the Spore team girls put up a good fight. But the China girls were just too good for them.

Our LCW... still cannot escape from the curse that's pestering all Malaysian players. They always succumb to pressure at the very last, important game. They just cannot maintain their good form until the every end. LCW is world number 2. The game should not have look like this. He should not have lost until so ugly. We had a 50:50 chance if he's in good form. But right after the game started, our chance had fallen to 20:80.

I would have cheered on if he put up a good fight. But... he did not. Just like what our double coach Rexy commented about Koo Kian Keat and Tan Boon Heong, "I cannot understand how a player can played so brilliantly in one game and suddenly become extremely lousy in another." Same it goes to LCW. I've never seen a top seeded player lost such badly, and ugly.

It was so excruciating to watch that I changed channel. Heartbreakingly disappointed, not by the lost, but by the way he played this game. Maybe he's overwhelmed by the 300k ringgit that he'll be receiving for fetching a silver medal for Malaysia...

18/8/08 Note : LCW apologized to the people of Malaysia, said he couldn't catch up with Lin DAn's pace and he has got no excuse for the lost. Well, at least he doesn't make excuses, Malaysian players often gave funny answers/excuses for their lost.

The fastest man on earth

Usain Bolt! The fastest man on earth! He broke his own world record of 9.72 with such stylish run towards the line!! So comfortably got Jamaica a Gold medal! Amazing! By the way, he wore a pair of gold colour running shoes. Ha!

(18/8/08 Note : Jamaican won all gold, silver and bronze in the women's 100m sprint!! Amazing!! What an ending!)

Just how fast a human can be? at running, at swimming, at jumping? Athletes are breaking records in every game. Michael Phelps, for example. And nobody even come close to fight with him for the gold most of the time. He is in such comfortable lead all the time. How did he do that?

I wonder just when, when will human stop breaking records? Where is the limit of human body? It's just so amazing that these athletes just won't stop breaking records. Amazing stuff!
