Thailand crisis

The political unrest in Thailand doesn't seem to have a quick solution.

Luckily I didn't plan any trips to Thailand during this time.

I personally think Prime Minister Mr Samak should not resign. I am glad he persisted still. He was elected by the people. WHy should he resign? SOmeone suggested a re-election. The opposition leader rejected the suggestion by reason of "a waste of tax payer's money". Actually, I think the real reason is that he knows, Mr Samak will win again.

If the military intervene AGAIN, and overthrow Mr Samak's party like they ousted ex-PM Mr Thaksin Shinawatra, this is really a shame to the country. What's democracy? Well, anyway, there's already no democracy when they ousted Mr Thaksin. The military ousted Mr Thaksin, yet the people re-elected Mr Shinawatra's party, though it's in a different name as his party was forced to dissolved.

People said that Mr Thaksin's politic is all about money. Giving the poor a little money benefit so they will elect him. BUT, money is exactly what the poor need. Mr Thaksin improved the rural area's healthcare, education, loans for farmers, reduced poverty, etc. This is what poor people need, not just Thailand, this is true in all over the world. Talk to poor people about liberty, when they can't even feed themselves? What do they care? They want a better life and Mr Thaksin provided that.

Thailand is a very strange country. The military doesn't really take orders from the PM. They only obey what they want to obey. How to efficiently rule a country in this case? It's really strange that this country has evolved to such structure.

I was very happy and glad that Mr Thaksin and wife is out of Thailand now. They applied for permission to go to watch the Olympics and never went back to Thailand. I am soooo happy for him. Although, a large part of his money... is now untouchable by him.... but I'm sure he's still rich, he's a successful entrepreneur. And at least they don't have to go to jail.

Just found there's your blog here. Good article and I, as a Thai, totally agree with that.

You know what? Thailand is like...a fake..esp. from those people in the big cities. They can't accept that the poor who always their...bitch..sorry to say, would become a prince by Thaksin's policy.

Just jealousy..that's all.
