Teambuilding

We Sales & Marketing dept had a teambuilding session with Technology Dept. First time for me~ We had more girls than guys, 2 other guys came later. The dark green shirt is our intern.

Charles, the "teddy bear" of Infineum. LOL. He is a very very funny and comical guy. Here he watches as the ball rolls into the goal instead of stopping it. hahaha.

My leg and my colleague's leg : one white one so brown! So funny.

I laughed until my stomachache. It was so funny with all the pushing and grabbing, there became no rules already!

See all the grabbing!

And pushing! I didn't know I can play so rough too! So funny.

Charles playing funny.

It was the first time I ever played soccer. It's quite fun! The next day we were aching like crazy..
Everybody~

See the scracth!

And the blueblack (bruises)!! LOL..................

My shoes that played football with me for the first time!

Afterwards we went karaoke. Me and teddy bear Charles.

My colleagues and an intern on the right.

Me and my colleague Cynthia~

It was soooooo much fun today. Hope we always have teambuilding. hahahahah..

Why do African people have longer limbs?

W.O.W. I have always wondered, why do African people have longer arms and legs. I typed the question in google and voila. There is a scientific explanation for it : Allen's rule.

Allen's rule

Nature never failed to amaze me.

Quote:

In cold climates, the greater the exposed surface area, the greater the loss of heat and therefore energy. Animals in cold climates need to conserve as much energy as possible. A low surface area to volume ratio helps to conserve heat.

In warm climates, the opposite is true. An animal will overheat quickly if it has a low surface area to volume ratio. Therefore, animals in warm climates will have high surface area to volume ratios so as to help them lose heat.

In a nutshell, it simply means there is a ratio between body surface to body mass. For example, Fur or Tutsi people of Africa release body heat more readily because their ratio is high. However, Eskimos and Inuit have a lower ratio and therefore retain body heat.

The Inuit people live and hunt within the Arctic Circle. The sub-zero temperatures encountered in the Arctic environment mean that heat conservation is essential. A short, squat body shape will help retain body heat.

The Maasai people live primarily in Kenya and north Tanzania. The equatorial temperatures in this environment mean that heat loss is highly beneficial. A tall, long, body shape will help get rid of body heat. (The use of the word "tall" here is somewhat misleading. It is not necessarily height that is a factor as it is relatively longer, leaner limbs and a lean frame which are most appropriate according to this rule. Basically, size is not the main factor, which would be Bergmann's Rule, but shape.)

Unquote.

Which one is nicer?

Anyone out there? Please tell me which one appeals to you more?
The blue one? or the brown one?

One month after LASIK

I am happy :D

Today was my last visit to Dr Lee. Everything's good, except 25deg astigmatism on my left eye. But the lady said this kind of degree comes and goes. True enough, because I see perfectly fine outdoor in bright day light. Not so good indoor. Some days it's good some days it's not.

I did not experience ANY tearing after the surgery, did not have dry eye AT ALL. I am so darn blessed!!!! :D hahahahah.... I can't help kept smiling after I left the LASIK centre. haha~

My hope now is of course this perfect vision remains as long as it can.

Oh by the way, Dr Lee sent me an email thanking me for the Thank You card I sent him. I attached my namecard in the card, very 有心机ne~~~~ wahahahah. I think he felt "obliged" to reply since I attached my namecard there. wahahahahahhaha. and it worked. kekekekeke. So happy to receive his reply. It's just some simple gesture from both sides, but it makes one happy! In his reply he thanked me for taking the time to write and sent the card. It was very heart warming, he said. But he didn't mention anything just now when I saw him. heheheh. Anyway, his reply is enough for me. :)

And er, happiness, has its price you know.

I am in a good mood today after today's last visit to Dr Lee. The side effect of good mood : a hole in my wallet........................ lol..

Disappointing of Malaysia

Look at this video. A Malaysian UMNO politician said they don't need the votes from Chinese and Indian. Fine. We won't vote for you then. Arrogance never serves anyone well.

I am UTTERLY disappointed with Malaysia. They are getting more backwards as time goes by. Their thinking NEVER improved. Someone I know just denounced his Malaysian citizenship. That tells you something.

I am so voting for the opposition in the next election, even if the one running the election is an idiot.

Dream comes true!!!!!

Went to Class 95's Retrolicious concert on 9 Oct 2010. Oh my god, I never thought I'd live to see 3 of my biggest idols : Johnny Hates Jazz♥, Debbie Gibson♥ and Rick Astley♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!

I was standing pretty close, but should have gotten closer. I almost couldn't see them. Luckily I was wearing my high heel. Although it hurt like hell afterwards. But it was worth it!!! I walked with my naked feet as soon as the concert was over. I walked all the way to carpark. LOL.. people must be wondering, maybe thinking my high heel has broken. But who cares? lol....

It is SO SO SO incredible!! I never even dream to see these biggest stars of the Eighties!!!! Oh my God. Recently I've fulfilled some of my "wish to see" things. I am so grateful. I love living in Singapore! Where all these are possible. Even though I don't have a boyfriend now, which is flawed, but I'm pretty happy with my life now. And I am so grateful ;) All these little things in life, makes me happy. But being able to see my idols is not a "little thing", it's a HUGE event in my life! WOHOA!!!!

Here are the videos :
Johnny Hates Jazz

So happy to listen to "I don't wanna be a hero" and "Don't let it end this way" and "Shattered Dreams". wahhhhhh, nice~

Debbie Gibson

She was fabulous! and sexy! She's still very beautiful! She's 40 this year.

And.... drum beating.... ggggrrrrrr...... RICK ASTLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I slept with a smile that night ^_^ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Listening to him, made me fall in love with him all over again. I started listening to his songs since I was in primary school! Oh my god. And he was incredibly funny!! ♥ Love the guy!! ♥ And he sounds the same, his voice still very very.... ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Ahhhh... what a fantastic concert, what a wonderful night ^_^

Lasik!!!

I had lasik surgery yesterday! 30th September 2010! Today is the first day after surgery. How liberating!

I was so nervous before the surgery. I was worried that I can't open my eyes to get myself home like some of my colleagues said... even thou my brother was with me but it's troublesome if I cannot open my eyes. But in the end, nothing to worry about. And I could open my eyes. There was no pain during the surgery. Perhaps a little discomfort about 2 hours after the surgery. Not sure was it pain (minor) and was it because of the sleeping pill taking effect (after 2 hours??). I felt uncomfortable at that time. But as soon as I got home I went to sleep.

During the surgery, there's one part where the eye cannot see anything, after the doctor put a suction cup onto the eye. And then the machine will create the flap. It felt like I was in sci-fi movie. The machine has a gentle female voice announcing : 25seconds.... 20seconds.... 5seconds.... And the my doctor's voice was reassuring as well, even more gentle than the machine's female voice. LOL... Btw, my doctor is Dr Lee Sao Bing, from Shinagawa. He is very nice, and very polite.

When I woke up 2hours later, the discomfort was gone. Vision is still blurry and hazy but that's normal. And I see halo at night. Dr said it'll take 3, 4 months for it to go away.

I slept early on the day of surgery. The next day, heaven! I can see clearly ! Still a bit hazy but better than first day. And it's normal. I hope the halo will go away soon. And I pray there won't be regression....

♫♪ I can see clearly now, the rain is gone ♫♪
♫♪ I can see all the obstacles in my way ♫♪
♫♪ Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind ♫♪
♫♪ It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)Sun-Shiny day. ♫♪

Positive impact

Today, is a great day.

I have a dear girl friend, who is very capable but she couldn't "see" it herself. Probably the result of a long relationship with a mean boyfriend - it drowned her confidence level. She lacked confidence, big time. We've been emailing each other more than going out together, for various reasons. We've known each other for about 10 or 11 years. We started emailing each other since er... 5, 6 years ago? I forgot. (Hey, T, how many years have we been emailing each other? haha..)

She is a very nice girl. But she loved her boyfriend more than herself. It's fine if it's a doting boyfriend but sadly it's not. That boyfriend killed her confidence. Whenever I can, I always tell her to be confident, to love herself first. Just like in the plane, when accident happens, take care of yourself first before attending to your kids or others. Love yourself, only then you'll gain your confidence.

Today, is a great day. In her email to me today, I saw a change in her. She too saw the change in herself. She's more confident now. I was actually a little surprised to see how she handled the conversation between she and her very-mean-evil-hearted colleague. She stood her ground. She did not give in. And I was so proud of her. It's like watching your little sister finally grown up. Believe it or not, I was touched when I read how she handled the matter. She changed.

She said to me it was me who taught her to be optimistic, to think positively about herself. I am glad that I was able to contribute a little in building up her confidence. It feels good to have a positive impact on your dear friend's life, even if a small impact.

My friends, let's work together, to become a better person each day :)

Resorts World

Long overdue photos. These were taken during CNY. CNY lunch for our department, at Chinois, at Hotel Micheal, Resorts World.

This is the tastiest "yu sang" I have ever ate!!!!! Their sauce is a bit sour, it's just sooo sooo soooo yummy!!!

The staffs there are all very beautiful. This lady is from China without a doubt.
The staffs in this restaurant are very courteous. But just last week my colleagues and I went to one of Resort World's hotel, met up the sales lady about our company event. SHe's very young, just graduated it seems. I don't know about her position as my other colleague liaise with this lady. And boy RW's people are arrogant. Their attitude sucks. The girl don't know much about Universal Studio's promotion, my colleague said to her "Do you want to have some of the information I have then?" That's a good one! ha! In the way, we decided not to hold the event there.

This was taken during CNY so there're no crowds yet.

This statue is placed outside the casino. My colleague said people are saying that this animal will eat all your good luck and you will lose money! haha. It's very weird looking. A long legged elephant.

The fat me.

At the entrance of Universal Studio.

A closer look. All photos taken by mobile phone, so it's not good quality.

That's Woody Wood Pecker!!! We (colleagues) are all going Universal Studio on 14 May! I want to take photos with all the cartoon figures!!
My colleagues were at the ticket counter asking something. I went back to them and said excitedly "I saw Woody Wood Pecker!" And my male colleague said "Let's go and beat the crap out of him." I said "WHy?? So mean!" And then when I told my brother "I saw Woody Wood Pecker and my colleague wanted to beat him." Guess what my brother said? He said "I was about to say the same : go and beat Woody Wood PEcker." But why??? everyone is so mean! hahaha......

Cycling - the 3rd time

It was "health day" in my compnay last Wed. We went cycling at 3pm. Heaven was so cooperative! When we're renting the bicycles, it drizzled a little but didn't really rain. After we returned the bicycle it started drizzling again, not sure if it rained after we left though.

Colleagues, colleagues, colleagues, most of my colleagues are nice~ I like them a lot.

The smallest bicycle was mine. I can't ride the normal adult one, too short... kekekek.... Initially I didn't want to ride, I was scared. But my colleagues were very nice, insisted on waiting for me. And the rental store staff let me tried on the kid's bike before I confirm to rent it. So I tried loh. Good on these good people~ I managed to ride afterall, albeit still wobbly.

It's around 清明节(Tomb sweeping day) and every Chinese knows, it rains during this time, no matter how hot the days had been. And Gab's mother said flowers will bloom around this time, birds will lay eggs, and dragonflies too will lay eggs around this time too~ I think she's right. Look at the flowers!!! A whole tree of pink!! This is Singapore/Malaysia's Sakura flower! Me and my colleague Joyce.

Beautiful right? Another colleague from JB, Lee Ling.

Flower petals are everywhere on the ground~ and they kept falling~ how romantic.

I've never seen a more beautiful East Coast Park.

My colleague said we face too much computer and we had to hug/touch trees to get rid of the bad things from computer. haha.

Nice!~~!
We cycled for 1:30hours only but my butt hurt like there's no tomorrow.... When I learnt cycling it hurt at a different "area". kekeke. This time perhaps I sat incorrectly... It hurt at the tailbone area and I got blister!!!! Seriously! When I shower, Oh My God.... it stung! hahahahaha... 屁股开花。。。。literally... hahahahaha... was a fun day!

Recent days at work

How time flies. I have been working in this company for over 6 months. 6 months! passed just like that! But thankfully it has been some pretty happy 6 months.

Previously I helped organised 2 events in company and was given 2 "Thank You Award" (can claim a total of S$225 for meals in one award). I knew we would be given that for helping to organise events. Yesterday, I was given another Thank You Award for some jobs done. That was really unexpected and I was so happy :D It's so so nice to work in a company like that, with your superiors recognising your efforts. It's really really encouraging. And I like my job functions. For the first time, I can say "I like my job." :D although no matter how much I like my job, I'd still have Monday blue. hahahahahah..... my dream job is to be a tai-tai. wahahahahahaha......then I won't have Monday blue. kekeke...

Anyway, some other things at work : couple of weeks ago, my colleague was browsing the fridge and asked me "Hey, your ice-cream, not going to eat it?" . I was like, "Huh???" Cos I never bought any ice-cream... Then I saw there's an ice-cream in the fridge with a serviette wrapped around it. My name was written on it, big big. There's no other Michelle in the company...

Man I hate this. Is this some kind of joke? I am not going to touch the ice-cream bcos it's not mine. I didn't buy it. I asked a few female colleagues who I'm close with. None of them bought me any ice-cream..................

I dislike having things like this, where I don't know what was going on. Anyway, I'm not going to touch the ice-cream. What if later someone pops out and say "Hey, why did you eat the ice-cream? It's not yours."........

Girls' out day

Today's our girls' out day again, karaoke with EK and YK. Angel was going to "chingay" so didn't join us. We had a great time~! Girls' out day is important, you know ;) To have fun together, to laugh together, to enjoy each other's company :D Most of our girl friends are married now, so I really appreciate the time we girls can get together. Every time we have outings, I am very excited and very much looking forward to it :D

I said something hilarious at karaoke today, I can't stop laughing everytime I think about it. haha..

YK & EK : Let's sing Andy Lau's song.

Me : Oh! Sing that song, "矿泉水"!

YK & EK : ..................??

YK & EK : ....It's "忘情水"!!!!!!...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.................. I seriously thought I said the name correctly you know.. kekekeke........

Nature Trekker

Some time back, there're some exhibition at Toa Payoh central. They are nature/environment related groups/societies. One of them is Nature Trekker. I signed up as a member, because it's free. Yeah, I'm "cheap", I know. kekekeke. but who cares. They have activities such as guided day tours and other wildlife related activities in Singapore. Recently there's one tour to Pulau Semakau, an island being used for landfill (no, it's not a dirty place full of stinky rubbish). I signed up for it, along with Gabriel. (It's not free of charge)

After I signed up the tour, they sent an email asking us to fill in our particulars, asked for office tel no., home tel no, mobile no, office address, home address, etc etc. In the email, it said, even if we previously sign up as a member, we'll still not be considered a member unless you fill in ALL the particulars, not one thing less. It also said one will not be considered a true member until you joined at least 4 tours in a year. Like, what the hell is so great with this society, huh?

The email also said, Semakau is a highly controlled island, therefore permits are needed to visit there, and therefore we need to fill in a lot of particulars. Fine. But I thought they said "you will not be considered a member until you fill in ALL the particulars"? So now we're fulfilling the society's requirement or the government's?

Upon seeing so many things that I need to fill, I felt a little annoyed. So I did not fill it and told Gabriel, forget it, don't want to go. Then few days later the person in charged called my mobile but I did not hear the phone rang. So they called Gabriel, asking if we're going (as we did not send in our full particulars). Gabriel told them why I did not fill in the form. The guy then explained.. the place is highly controlled, gov wants to know who is visiting, blah blah blah. BUT as I said they also said in the email it's for their membership, blah blah blah. They talked for so long on the phone! So long winded!! Even after Gab said "ok, understand" and told him we will fill in the form n pay.

The same night, I emailed that guy and asked how to pay. He replied in a short while. I then sent in money via internet banking immediately. I followed the instruction : sms the guy after I paid online. He replied saying will check the payment.

So I thought everything is firmed. One week after that, he emailed me "1st reminder", big big word like loan shark. I replied "You sound like I still owe you money." and he asked have I paid? By which method? and said "I managed to contact everyone except you." WHAT THE FUCK??!!! We exchanged email and sms and how the hell was I uncontactable??!! He said he called me twice but the fact is I only missed his call once. Oh and by the way, his number, is a "private number". No matter what the reason, I dislike people who uses private number, what? doing something indecent and don't want to let people know your number? I have every right to reject calls from private number anyway. And you want to blame me??!

Anyway, I said we've exchanged email and sms after I paid, how the hell was I uncontactable? I wanted to say "how the FUCK was I uncontactable?" but I 忍。。。。。。。。。。。。。

In the end, he said got the money. I sms Gab to tell him how annoyed I was and this will be the last time I join this stupid society. Gab then told me, the day after we paid, this guy called him and asked have we paid? Gab of cos replied we've paid. And then he still sent me "1st reminder"???!!! What the fuck?!

You know what else is annoying? He kept sending reminders to us about what to bring, don't be late, blah blah blah blah blah. For GOD'S SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! In total, not counting the one he thought I haven't paid, he sent 3 emails. "1st reminder", "2nd and final reminder" x twice. Like, what the shit!!!! The tour is tomorrow, Sunday. He sent a sms reminder on Friday. He sent another sms reminder on Saturday. That's a total of 5 fucking reminders!!! And because a binocular is a must to bring, he sent another 2 or 3 emails telling people that IT IS A MUST and if we don't have it we can buy it from them. For a simple 5 hours tour, so many unnecessary emails were sent. So annoying!

GOSH!! "Reminders" IN RED are supposed to be used for people who still owe you money or whatever shit. A "gentle reminder" is what is supposed to be used to remind people about what to bring and don't fucking be late! I think this guy imagined he's a lawyer, likes to send people "REMINDER". It's so rude!

Gab said he must be an old man. If he's an old man, maybe I'll forgive him. But I think, after the tour tomorrow, I will write him an email. First, to take my name off the membership (if I am already a PRESTIGE member of theirs, that is). Second, I am going to tell him that's not the way to organise a tour. I am goign to tell him how annoying he was. And I'm going to remind him of the story "狼来了". People who always lie, when he's telling the truth, no one will believe him. He keeps sending all these stupid reminders, people will just ignore and not read his emails and might do all the "don't" in his email. I'm seriously goign to write to him to remove me from their mailing list. Call me petty. This is how I am. It's unacceptable to be so rude, to send people reminders in red when I am not owing him anything.

In my opinion, the most, 2 email reminders (along with the message about binoculars being a MUST) is enough. One sms reminder the day before the tour is ENOUGH! We're adults for crying out loud. GOSH! SO ANNOYED!! I'm glad tomorrow is the tour. No more emails from them!!
