Welcome a new family member~

I want to welcome a new member to my family~

Pooh (boh?) baby~

Look! He can sit on my lap~! But he doesn't look very happy, does he?

So I let him sit on the table. Oh look~ he smiles~

Trying to cheer him up more, I held him up high on my palm~ he can sit still on my palm~~! He still doesn't look happy...

So I held him up higher~ Look~ he smiles again~~

I introduced him to some of the family members. First, Piggy~ Piggy has not taken a bath and beginning to look ehm.. a bit untidy..

And Pinky~ Look they look really nice together, don't they? I think Pooh baby feels happy in his new home now ;)
Pooh baby is really sweet and soft. Extremely extremely soft. He is slightly bigger than Piggy and slightly smaller than Pinky, which is the perfect size for travelling! I will bring him with him to my next Tioman trip. wahaa~

Insect repellant

I am very the "boliao" loh... Nothing better to do so I want to intro a product here. hehe..

Now with all the dengue cases, it's important to protect yourself. The other day I saw a mosquito in my room (quite rare for this to happen, I stay on 8th floor). I wanted to kill it but failed. I was pretty "kan chiong" about it so I quickly got out my insect repellant and sprayed on myself.

I used to use the orange colour packaging OFF! But its smell is soooo.... damn strong man. It's a sweet smell but it's way too strong. Every time I smell it I will choke.... I guess they have to put it this strong to cover the typical pungent smell of most insect repellent. This OFF! has got 2 sizes however even the small bottle is considered too big by me. It's almost bigger than a 500ml mineral water bottle. Imagine taking that on a holiday. Then they came out with a tiny little bottle one (about 8cm tall) and I thought that size was wonderful. So I had been using that ever since.

But recently the smal bottle is going to finish soon. And I saw this :
It's about palm size big, not a perfect size but it's acceptable. So I bought this and I like it a lot. It doesn't have very strong, typcical insect repellant's pungent smell like most brands, and doesn't have very strong sweet smell like OFF! Wonderful~ You should try it too~!

p.s. I don't get paid for this... too bad...

Octopus!

I had a really long dream yesterday.

I actually dreamt we’re attending our friend, Steven’s wedding! Hahaha.. but didn’t see the bride though... Steven gave us his wedding photos which er…were not exactly wedding photos… there were many people in the photos. And the photos were poster size~! And Steven has more hair in my dream than in real life. hehehe….

Steven hired some professional divers for his wedding, to do some stunts or whatever. The thing is, the place of the wedding is a diving destiny. By the way, the wedding was like a school Monday morning briefing… we were sitting on staircases waiting to hear speech...

Anyway, the next day after we attended the wedding we were preparing for diving. Hehe… shiok if it’s a real thing. Diving after attending a wedding, how cool is that. Maybe if one day I get to marry a millionaire, I’ll do just that. Ha! Dreaming…

And so, we were preparing to dive. The ocean is just right outside my resort room. I looked down into the ocean, OH MY GOSH! Octopus! One, two, no… big ones, very big ones and oh my God… there were dozens of them!! Geesh.. I was thinking how are we going to dive with all these octopuses around… I mean, one or two small ones is fun… but dozens.. and they were big… it’s dangerous to dive with big octopus… For they are damn strong and may I remind all, they have 8 tentacles full of strong suckers…

Then I went to see other people. Then some angmoh girls were screaming and looking at my toilet. And guess what, a huge HUGE octopus was crawling out of the toilet!! GOSH!!!

Somehow, I ignored that and went to look for my diving friends. A few divers were in the water. BUT! I saw quite a few snake like fish, or eels rather, in the sea. They were HUGE!! They were yellow/white like albino python. Their posture were like the ehm,like in cartoons when the Indian play his flute and the snake will stand and look at him, the eels were standing like that. They were all looking at our boat and the divers but wasn’t moving much. GOSH! It was so scary! I had decided I was not going into the water with all these creatures around! I was yelling at the divers and asked them to get out of the water.

I then heard people said those eels were only guarding that ocean. Somebody died there, somebody important. Or he was buried in that part of ocean or something like that. So the eels were the guardians.

Ehm, then my dream ended. Quite an interesting dream~ happy~ heheh…

Miko hates the broom

Miko hates it when I put the mini broom in her "basement" - her hide out when she's out of her cage.

She will pull and drag the broom out of her "basement", the further the better she thinks. It's so cute~~
See the video here : Miko hates the broom

Aur July 2007

My 猪猪看世界... haha...

This was taken on the speed ferry. My Sony T100 somehow rendered the picture much bluer than what it really is...

This is Pulau Aur. I was there on 28th weekend thanks to my big sister Jean~~

I couldn't sleep at night in the resort due to too many "stereos", left, right and below. hahaha... So I came out at 3:30am and slept on the beach chair. Heaven, it was~ hehe... for it was really really quiet out there. Looking at the cloudy night sky and slept under the moon~~ 别有一番风味~~ I quite like it actually. Thank goodness it wasn't very cold. Only thing is the chair is really hard loh, I managed to fall asleep quite fast but when I woke up I almost couldn't feel my butt loh... Stupid me left my sleeping bag in the diving boat...
This is the boat we used. Water was very calm, but it was damn cold, for it had rained for a week. And it rained intermittently while we're there as well.

The inquisitive lone batfish. It was sooo cute, followed us for a longggg time... It's just amazing how these fish will come and check us out. I chased it a little, trying to touch it, since it was so close... but of course, it is a fish, I am just a human with stupid fins, couldn't catch up with it.

A lone barracuda. Magnificent, look at the stripes on its body. This photo was heavily edited... hence the unnatural colour... Camera's internal flash is useless at this distance.

A very pretty nudibranch. Don't know its name...

This kitten is just so adorable~~~~ we couldn't get tired of her. I heard she's about 2 months old, the most playful period. It will play with anything and everything~

I regret i didn't go with a lower angle for this pic. It'll look better if I go lower.

Camera couldn't focus on the translucent, jelly-like creature... I didn't know what this is, jellyfish-like colonial creature I supposed. Didn't know whether it stings.. I was wearing a glove so I played with it, it's really cute. I guess it doesn't sting. If it does, the nematocyst will probably left on my glove and sting me when my bare hand touch the glove. I had neglected this possibility though...

The guys and girls.

Plus Jean~ Thanks to Jean again for this great trip~~

Cutest and friendliest baby

Yesterday I saw the cutest and friendliest baby~ well, not exactly baby, about 2,3 years old I guess.

A mother carrying her son walked into the lift where I was in. When the baby saw me immediately he said "Jie-jie!" (sister). Naturally, I said hello. He held out his hand so I held it and talked to him. He kept on going : "Jie-jie~ Jie-jie~ Jie-jie leh! Jie-jie~ Jie-jie~" while kept turning about in his mother's arm, and laughing and calling jie jie. He was sooooo.. cheerful and adorable. His mother was amused and said, "Yalah yalah, jie-jie lah jie-jie lah..." Yet he kept on going "jie-jie jie-jie" and laughing... He was really really adorable. So happy to see such a baby :)

What is wrong with me

There is something wrong with me. For the first time in my 5+years of diving, I do not feel excited about going on a dive trip. I don’t understand. But I’ve been kind of depress for the whole week though.

It’s been weeks since I last cried, till yesterday. For no apparent reason. I must be going crazy.

Well... the only reason I can think of, maybe, is the possibility of "change" that might come in future... Maybe nobody knows what I mean, doesn't matter.

School time

I miss the time in secondary school, I actually miss it. Never thought I would. I didn't really like school. I am kind of a lazy student.

I don't miss primary school time though. The teachers in private Chinese schools were all about money. You will be popular with the teachers if you are rich. Being poor, it's like an outcast. Well I might be exaggerated it a little bit but I feel like using the word "outcast". hahaha...

In primary school the friends I hung around with were the rich ones. No special reasons but just so happened that we got along well. It’s not good for my self-esteem, mixing with those rich ones during those days, since the teachers’ eyes were shining with dollar signs. So one important lesson primary school taught me was that, those who got the money, rule. I have no special memory about primary school apart from this. Good eh? Fortunately, my self-esteem wasn’t destroyed at that time. I don’t know, maybe the rebellious side of me won over it. And now I seem to have too much self-esteem till almost narcissistic (no such word in Encarta but there is in my Nokia handphone’s dictionary).

Secondary school was more memorable. It was then I made some best friends. And there were some nice memories :

happy times : we crazily chased over International junior volleyball players all over hotels in JB ; we (only students) ourselves held badminton tournament;

“horrifying” times : I got ZERO mark in Chemistry monthly test;

sad time : being short and discriminated and teased;

interesting times : went to some ulu (remote) school for chess competition, where ONE taxi took all 7 of us, and stopped to consider taking one more passenger……… ;

tough times : we always had to wait for the bus that seemed never going to come; while walking through the bush (short cut) to take bus, it rained and we along with our books were drenched;

crazy times : I retorted at some gang students thinking that she was criticizing my best friend out loud (I never found out whether she was indeed criticizing my best friend or not…) such impulsion… ;

secret times : well, not exactly… it’s an open secret that I was fond of my Shixiong;

guilty times : my best friend ST and I idling around when the rest of the class buried their heads in books and working hard;

memorable times : ST, EK and I always went A&W thinking to study together (while having mouth watering fast food) which always ended up ST and I chatting about non-study related stuff while EK concentrating on the homework ;

“weird teacher” times : an Indian teacher who must had something wrong in the head kept punishing us over the slightest thing (sort of like Severus Snape). Rumour has it that he once ate a chalk when he got very angry;

satisfying times : art lessons which I was rather good at sometimes (depending what we had to draw)

Those were the days... It's been so many years. Starting to get old. hahaha... as my friend Patrick rightly put it, when you start to think "those were the days", it means you are getting old.... haha...

Superstitions

I am very sick and tired of Chinese senseless superstitions. Especially about babies.

There are a whole "truck" of things which we are not supposed to do or say in front of the new born. For instance, you are not to take photos of the new born baby. For fear of what? I forgot. Never really cared. I always seek the parents’ permission if I wish to take pictures of their new born. There was once, I got the parents’ permission as usual but was stopped by an elderly before I take the photo. You know how aunties are, and it wasn’t pleasant. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, at least, to me, being stopped like that. I hate it.

Then there were plenty of things you are not supposed to say. You are not to compliment the baby being good (乖), didn’t cry a lot, you are not to say the baby is pretty, you are not to say the baby is cute, etc etc. Whatever nice things about the baby, you are not supposed to say in front of the baby, for fear of the baby growing the opposite.

So? No offence to the parents. So then what the hell am I supposed to say? That your baby is ugly? Your baby is naughty? I mean, COME ON. I understand all parents want the best for their kids, want to avoid anything negative. But this is really a senseless believe. Though superstition is always senseless...

When you see a new born, you aren’t supposed to keep quiet either. Imagine you see your friend’s new born and just remain silence. Is that good? No, it’s not. Your friend will for sure wonder if there’s anything wrong with his/her baby that cause you to keep to your silence.

So tell me, what the hell am I supposed to say? I am really sick and tired of always being nudged or being told “shh” or “don’t say that” by people (usually not the baby’s parents) whenever I compliment the baby. Should I say then, “Oh, their baby is soooo naughty…”? Imagine what the expression of the parents will turn into.

I don’t know. I consider myself not superstitious kind of person. Well, most of the time, if not always. Maybe people will think I’m inconsiderate but honestly, seriously, I reckon this is really the most ridiculous superstition of all.

Harry Potter - closure

Finally, after 2 years of waiting, fans around the world can finally get hold of the final book. I woke up before 7am on Sat and went to get the book slightly past 7. There weren't so many die hard fans in Johor, I reckon. There were only a couple of people getting the book when I was there and bags of books lined up on the floor are of few quantities, unlike those in Singapore where fans were queueing up on the night before!

Sadly, Malaysia's 3 main bookshops namely, MPH, Popular and Harris are boycotting Harry Potter 7 to protest a hypermarket (should be C***four) is selling the book at a cheaper price which has violated the price agreement. They won't be selling HP7, except for those who had ordered it in the pre-sale. How unfortunate that such thing happened...

Anyway, I started reading the book from 7:30am to 8pm, stopping only to take meals and toilet. I would probably spend another hour or so if I didn't rush things up a bit. Cos I was to go out with friends at 9pm. I didn't want to leave, maybe, 50 pages of the ending and go out with friends. I couldn't bear it, couldn't bear not knowing the ending when I was so close to the end.

The ending, *contains slight spoiler*do not read if you intend to read the book*I thought, is as good as it gets. The thing I worried about (of the characters) didn't happen. I am happy with the ending though it's not perfect (meaning, everybody survives, which is quite impossible). I was really really upset that one of my favourites, Dobby, has to die... Really really sad... and Hedwig... and... well, read it yourself.

The next day, I read some chapters of the story again. Basically, I can't stop reading it over and over again. It really did marvelled me how much twist there are in the book, really have to take my hat off J.K.Rowling. She said she can never write a better story ever. Well, I agree. I really love all 7 books of Harry Potter. And just like the author thinks she couldn't write a better story, I don't think I'll ever read another story that I like more~!

Harry Potter's last book~

Harry Potter's last book - The Deathly Hallows is releasing on Sat~!!! We've been waiting for 2 years~ man.. 2 years, didn't achieve nothing in these 2 years. Time flies...

ANyway, I can't wait to get the book~! I've cancelled our regular badminton session on Sat cos I don't think I will be able to put the book down before I finish it. But we have a gathering on Sat night... I'll just have to continue reading it after the gathering. I will get the book at 7+am. The previous book, took me 13 hours straight to finish it. If I need 13hours to finish this one too, then I will finish by 8pm. Our gathering is 9pm. hehe.. hope I can finish it. Else, the cafe we're going, their coffee is really strong, that would be able to keep me awake to finish the book in the middle of the night. ha~

I hope I won't be too sad after reading the book.... cos 2 important characters will die in the book..........

Harry Potter 5th movie

Watched Harry Potter The Order of the Phoenix yesterday. In my opinion, it portrait fairly accurate as the book. I liked it. But it’s a sad episode of Harry Potter, just like in the book…

One might think I was being really stupid… but I still remember I got really depressed reading Harry Potter The Order of the Phoenix. I got so involved in the story. I hate it when Sirius died. I felt Harry Potter’s pain, as if it’s real. It’s just a story, yes. But I can’t help it. Every chapter creates reverberating effects on my mind and heart. I’ve never liked a fiction story this much. Really. Seriously.

Thus, I don’t understand why there are so many detractors of J.K.Rowling. Jealousy? But some of them are authors of many best selling books themselves. I’m not sure how good or bad Harry Potter books are from the literature point of view and I am not qualified to say so either. However, it got me reading, it got me refusing to put the books down. Isn’t it good enough? They said it instills the believe of witchcraft among children… well, like witchcraft is a real thing… They’ll soon know it isn’t. If this is the excuse, shouldn’t we tell all our children that Santa Claus does not exist as soon as they came to read about him?

Some say her imagination was lousy, mediocre. Well, I don’t see them producing a more imaginative, more reader-attractive, and better sales volume books?

IT IS a phenomenon. Really. The sales of Harry Potter books. Nobody can beat that (for now). You gotta admit there is something special about the book. People young and old liked the story very much. I don’t’ think there has been any book that scores a better pre-selling quantity than Harry Potter. Even Giants, yes the hypermarket Giants, has joined the bandwagon.

I hope to live in a fantasy world. Not because Harry Potter has “polluted” my mind as the detractors might put it on people like me. I hope to live in a fantasy world since I was little. I guess that’s many people’s wish. To escape from this cruel reality. But of cos, EVERYBODY knows it’s not going to happen. Fantasy remains fantasy. Life goes on…
