Super Nanny

Hear this, (should write “read this”) go watch Super Nanny every Thursday on Arts Central at 10pm!

I felt that is the best reality show~!

It’s really worth watching especially if you have naughty kids. Even if you don’t have it’s still worth watching as well!

The kids on yesterday’s show were horrible! Truly “monsters can come from all sizes”. They constantly fight, kick and bite one another, they swear, they even spit on their mother’s face!! It’s really like the Super Nanny has said to their parents’ face, “APPALLING!”. (The youngest boy of 4 years old tried to intimidate the Super Nanny by pretending to throw a brick to her...)

The mother literally struggles through EVERYDAY. It’s impossible not to get depress or break down being these monsters’ mum… It was REALLY THAT difficult to get all four of the kids into the car and go to school. They had NEVER been to school on time… The mother was afraid that the children won’t grow up loving her if she’s too strict with them… She herself cultivated such bad behaviour onto her kids.

The Super Nanny observed the family for one whole day to find out where the problem is (by the way, she has 16 years of experience in this) and taught the parents how to discipline their children.

The mother had no authority over the kids.. They know exactly what they can do and their mother had no way controlling them. (They almost smashed everything that can be smashed at home..) Amazingly, their mother never gets angry, really something. She had never raised her voice even when her son tries to bite her. All she did when her son spit to her face was wiped it off and said, “That’s not very nice, isn’t it?”. Not nice??! It’s UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR!!! The kids only behave better when the father comes home. However the Super Nanny pointed out he’s too stern like a dictator. She also advised the parents to emphasize on praising not only just by punishing.

The Super Nanny pointed out both of the parents’ problem and corrected it. The first time Super Nanny left them, the mother had a bit of difficulties controlling the naughtiest 2 kids… and the father sort of overruled the mother by punishing his son for a second time, when he was already been punished by his mother during the day.

Super Nanny came back and pointed out their mistakes again. And she left them for the second time.

2 weeks later, Super Nanny came back to check on them. This family’s life has changed completely. The kids are better behaved now and are even able to sit still and finished their meals. They bad been behaving so well that their parents now dare to bring them out for dinner and do not have to be worried and embarrassed by their “appalling” sons anymore. What a difference!! They now have more outdoor activities and everyone in the family is now happier.

Super Nanny is really good.

This is definitely a show worth watching (provided it is true, not acting, which is possible).

Kacang Putih

I really miss kacang-putih which I ate when I was a kid.

Kacang~ putih~~~”.

I can’t really remember which type of kacang (nuts) I liked. That isn’t important. What I really miss is not the kacang itself but the feeling of old times. Something that doesn’t exist anymore. Indian man carrying all those kacang, and walked around selling them. Kacang wrapped in newspapers… unhygienic… but we “survived”.

And also the “tikam” thing. Where you pay er.. can’t remember how many cents, and pick one sticker (out of tens of them) on a cardboard to see if you strike any prize. My friend said it still can be found in ulu-ulu place in Malaysia. But I don’t know where. It would be so “shiok” if I ever get to play the “tikam” thing again... while eating kacang wrapped in newspaper.

Friendly? or weird...

This morning when I walked to work, in front of me came an old man. I was wearing a black spheggeti striped top, I wonder was it because of that, he actually spoke to me, “小妹, 今天没有做工啊?”(not working today?)…………

I don’t know him. I don’t think I ever saw him before.

20 years ago you would feel he is just being friendly. Now.. I don’t know…… I can’t help but feeling that he’s a bit , ehm.. weird.. a bit wondering if he’s an old lecher… I’m sorry if he’s not, if he’s only being friendly.. but in our society today… it’s better to be skeptical and play safe than sorry, isn’t it?

Singapore and JB food

How come ice kacang in Singapore are without chocolate syrup?? Ice kacang in JB are mostly with chocolate syrup. You'd feel something is missing without it...

Singapore and JB are so close but our food actually are quite different. Such as laksa, Singaporeans called JB laksa as curry mee... I don't like Katong laksa... hate it.. and in JB there's no "thick meehoon" (粗米粉). In Singapore when we order laksa, if you never specify what you want then you'd always get thick meehoon. Sometimes I forgot to tell them and I'll get sooo... disappointed when I got my food... Cos I hate thick meehoon.

JB people always say Singapore food cannot be compared to JB/Malaysia.. But I personally feel : why the comparison? Different people different cooking style. Different places different taste (such bad english, I know.. ). And different taste suits different people. I do find some food here are very delicious.

I will only say I don't like Singapore laksa because it is not my taste. I won't say, Singapore laksa does not taste good or Singaproe laksa can't be compared to JB laksa.
I was told that a German once said Tiger beer sucks (said so with a totally disgusted face), and their beers are the best.... No matter what it is: food, lifestyle, culture, rules, whatever, you just can't compare these from 2 different environment, places, countries, etc... You grow up in Singapore, most likely you would love Singapore laksa. I grew up eating JB laksa, so naturally I prefer JB laksa. As simples as that. No comparison between the two is necessary.

Right now, I kind of miss Sarawak laksa. Some say it tastes like instant curry mee.. hahaha.. but still I quite like it. Maybe because I like instant noodle..

work eat laugh cry and sleep

Life sucks.

That summarized it all. I was so bad mood and depressed yesterday I think I dropped my Miko's tidbits in the bus. Didn't even realised it until 2 hours later when I gave tidbits to her.. There goes my $4.75

Let me summarize my life in this way : work, eat, laugh, sleep, work, eat, cry, sleep, work, eat, laugh, sleep, work, eat, laugh, sleep, work, eat, cry, sleep....

It's not good to have such a melancholy post.. But that's how it is. I used to write diary, I like to write my feelings in it. A blog is a diary, for whoever's willing to read about someone else's life. Everybody's blog is cheerful, fun, interesting but perhaps not this one. I had been living quite happily for a few months..but the cycles goes backwards again.

Self-pitiness is a disease, a serious disease. When you start to put sad feelings, thoughts in beautiful sentences, you are infected. When you start blaming the world for your life, you are infected.

I wonder who can confidently say they are happy? I think 80% of people are somehow not happy. Those who are single, are they happy? Are they enjoying their single lives? Those who are attached, are they happy? Those who are married, those who are divorced, those who have kids, those who have none, are they happy? Rich people have problems, poor people too. Everybody has problems, health, love, financial, physical needs, psychological needs, etc, etc... It seems to me this life is actually not worth living.

My limited happiness have gone from Sipadan. I have lost all spirits in doing anything at all. If I can just sit and rot, I WILL sit and rot.

I still can't believe I dropped my Miko's tidbits... It's not exactly small.... That is so impossible... I can't believe it... I've NEVER dropped anything I bought before.

Dreams

Last Friday, I dreamt that I was diving with others and we swam with manta rays~~~~ and I got to touch them~~!!!! I played with the mantas for a while and they left. Then we bumped into jelly fish~!! LOTS AND LOTS of jelly fish~!! Like how it was in Finding Nemo. Hehe… but those jelly fish got long tentacles, we reckon they are poisonous so we got out of there fast.

Sunday evening, I fell asleep when I was resting in bed.. motion sickness.. I suffered motion sickness for taking the train. Thank God it only happens sometimes.. And I dreamt that my eyes can’t focus anything beyond 1 foot in front of my face.. I also had to struggle to get up. And when I went into my toilet, there were 2 corpses in it!! A man laid on the toilet floor, a woman was hung by a rope around her neck… I didn’t see their faces clearly as I wasn’t able to focus beyond 1foot…

Sunday night, I dreamt that I was going diving again with a bunch of people~!! Diving! Hooray!! But the dream never got to the actual diving part. Haha…

Yesterday, Monday night, I dreamt that I was at a seaside. A beach with absolutely crystal clear water. We were looking for seahorse (no diving gear) but instead of seahorse I saw 2 big cuttlefish and one bigggg turtle. And there is also one half dolphin half stingray creature.

I love dreaming~ Dreaming is FFFFFUN~~~

Auctions

It’s very funny to browse through Yahoo Auctions. I searched by the keyword “scuba”. Many items are available, used and unused.

I always wonder, some of the sellers, they think people are idiots or what? You can very often see them selling used items at a much higher price than a new one!

Take this for eg.

Would you believe this is a “hardly used” , less than 5 dive trips’ BCD ???? Duhhh…… I’d say this is used for at least 50 dive trips. Unless this BCD’s owner let his BCD out under the sun EVERYDAY. This item had been on Auctions for a longggg time, probably 1-2 years. (I surf it when I’m free) Auction price starts from S$250, with a buy price at S$299. Such price for such a condition of item, he can keep the BCD forever in his closet. You can buy a new one at less than S$400...

Lots of sellers put up very unreasonable price for used items. I mean, who would buy a used camera selling at S$400 when you can get a new one (same model) right about that price or even less than S$400 if you’re good at bargaining?! Maybe the seller is not in need of that money so they don’t mind waiting for such SUCKER. But it’s really ridiculous… selling a used item at the price of a complete new one. They are only wasting their time posting the auction. What were the sellers thinking??? For someone to be attracted to their items with such price… he/she must be a FUCKING NO BRAIN SUCKER.

Working out is great~!

Yesterday KR and I had our first boxercise class at CFC after Keith was gone. KR was right, the instructor Fofoa Tamese, who created FT boxercise, looks a bit like Hulk Hogan. Only that he’s darker. I super like Hulk Hogan yo~ He is soooo… cute, very unlike those nasty wrestlers, he’s the nicest among them. (speak as if I know him personally… )

I don’t quite like FT’s teaching style… I prefer Keith… FT taught as if we’re in army camp.. push ups push ups and push ups…………

In the class, there was a girl, she AMAZED me I’m telling you… Most of the time, we have one foot stations to the floor when the other skips (while hands punch of course). But she, she jumped through out the class!! Where the hell she gets her energy for that??!!! And it’s not a small skip mind you, she jumped at least 10cm from the floor…… I got distracted watching her jumps……………………… She’s like a wonder woman…… quite skinny… but her stamina is damn good……

All sorts of people in the class.. it’s really a distracting factor for me.. hahahaha.. cos I like to watch them move…

But the class was so God damn full! I hated it. And this girl behind me and KR was kicking like nobody’s business. I can feel the “whoosh” every time she kicked her leg up between KR and me… For God’s sake... she had to give it all, hadn’t she? Easy for her, if she ever kicks us she only has to say “Sorry.” And we have to suffer the kick. But luckily for us it didn’t happen.

I was saying to KR I cannot believe we were leading such a healthy life style . If I’m still working in JB I would still be 软趴趴一个. Hahahaa…… It’s so much more convenient to exercise in Spore. I only started regular exercise since last September and I can see a whole lot of difference in my stamina and strength already~ Believe it or not, it’s now hell lot easier and more relaxing when I go diving now. I’m super happy~!! Working out is great~!

Nokia Nokia Nokia

People (including myself) always say, (put it in a more beautiful sentence) “Once a Nokia user, always a Nokia user”.

Nokia phone is so user-friendly, I cannot stand Samsung phone I bought few months back… So I had to cough out more money to get a Nokia phone, after not even one month using that Samsung... But Samsung phones are so cute and trendy…… too bad lah. I think Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones are now the most popular ones. Some say Sony Ericsson’s market share is going surpass Nokia. I don't know.

But Nokia phones’ design is going down hill, man… The most recent (and most expensive) ones are better. But I can’t afford those. I’m satisfied with my 6101 now. It’s white and looks cool (except the super fat antenna…). I like~ but it’s got a very ugly “T-mobile” printed on it… I realized it’s a parallel imported phone from UK after I purchased it… stupid… but not exactly stupid lah.. it’s because I’m a cheap skate buyer, so I chose to buy a RM159 cheaper phone…... and because it’s a UK phone, there was no Chinese in it~!!!!!! I didn’t know that.. else I won’t buy it…

I can’t understand why other phone company can’t use a more user-friendly software for their phones. I almost want to smash the Samsung I was using because it takes so many steps to save a number, to reply a message, etc… They should just copyNokia's software and make them compatible. Most of the time people don’t choose phones other than Nokia because all their friends using Nokia… Samsung phones can’t receive “business card” from Nokia phones… that’s very inconvenience.

hmm... I shall make a pledge here :

I will never use phones other than Nokia in future.
(maybe except Sony Ericsson )

SBS bus

Yesterday I went to see my Doctor for some medicine. I am suffering from this thing called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I have numbness in my fingers if I maintain my hands in a same position for too long, like reading newspapers. (CTS is “a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist. It occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. Symptoms usually start gradually, with pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, radiating up the arm. As symptoms worsen, people might feel tingling during the day, and decreased grip strength may make it difficult to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. In some cases no direct cause of the syndrome can be identified. Most likely the disorder is due to a congenital predisposition - the carpal tunnel is simply smaller in some people than in others. However, the risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome is especially common in those performing assembly line work.”)

Anyway, that’s not what I want to talk about. I want to say to SBS bus company : “I HATE TAKING SBS BUS IN THE AFTERNOON!!”

There was literally no aircond at all in the bus. Every time I go clinic in the afternoon I will have to swear and curse SBS. It’s fucking hot ok??! People can faint in the bus! I know I almost did for numerous times! Fucking go and service the aircond!! Geez….. SBS bus passengers better pray pray the doors won't jammed and can't open. If such thing happens the passengers will sure die in half an hour.

SBS bus is always hot.. whereas TIBS bus is always cold as hell~!! What the ...???

Psycho.. me...

I think I'm a bit sick.

Every time I see someone very decent looking, typical Mr Nice that kind, automatically, images of these decent looking men making love will appear before my eyes.

WHY?? Because, when men make love, they turn into beasts, including those super decent looking men. No matter how decent, how boyish, how innocent they look, they turn into beasts. Question is, whether it's a charming beast or a "sorry-looking" beast.

It's not a fantasy, absolutely not. It's not something fun nor enjoyable to have those images in my head. Because I don't like innocent, super-decent-looking man. In fact, it disgusts me a bit. (No offence to super-decent-looking man.. it's just a personal preference) Imagine what these innocent faces will turn into once they got in bed making love with someone. Imagine these innocent faces contort when they climax......... I won't like and do not want to see those images.

But the images still appear before my eyes. I am a psycho.

p.s. This post is a bit sick.. a bit extreme... might be a bit annoying to some... but that's seriously what went on my head, all truth and nothing but the truth. I don't like to lie. Leave a hate-comment if you don't like this post then.

Why love? 无奈…

Life is full of 无奈…

The past few years for me, had always been… 无奈.

Some things are not meant to be, are not meant to be, however much we think it should be.

无奈.

How nice would it be if I can shut my emotions... Live like Data in Star Trek. No fear, no hatred… … no love… …… ……

This feeling of无奈, is too suffocating… ……… ……… Someone get me out please…… ……

Love is too complicated. Why love? Why? What is love? Why can’t all creatures be love-less. Just fuck and procreate and that’s it. Love is too complicated. Love is too tiring. We should live like plants… then there’ll be no 烦恼. Then all will be peaceful and calm and harmonious…

Love is too painful. Love is无奈.

Love is powerful. Love can rip your heart…

So why love? Why…………?

Why……………… ................

Diving trip Mar'06 - Sipadan (Summary)

Sipadan Water Village's staffs were superb, very friendly and good service. From the moment we reach its jetty till they sent us off at the airport.

The room was huge... very clean and comfy. Why didn't I take a photo of the room??? hmm.... well, I wasn't in the best of mood, in fact I've never been more miserable (at times during the trip) in any trip...... I would have taken more photos had I not been affected by some unforeseen circumstances...

Anyway, the resort itself was superb. But the dive centre... hmm... lousy. The dive sites were lousy, that's out of dive centre's control of course, but the dive guides were lousy as well. Caused us to fin for long distances unneccessarily due to their lack of experience and knowledge. Boatman and divemasters weren't helpful. Very very lousy service. We are not those pampered divers who need to be treated like princess but their service, basic attention to customers were really really bad.

Most divemasters were fairly new, very very inexperience. They requested us to follow their many ridiculous rules but they themselves did not seem to stick to basic dive procedures. If we were all new open water divers, it could be very dangerous to follow these young inexperience divemasters. For eg, they did head-counts, when the number didn't match, they just abandon the head-count instead of looking or waiting for the rest of the divers who were not in sight. So what's the point of head-counts?

But then, can't really blame them...Some of those divemasters are university students. Went there to look for a temporary job. That's why they are very inexperience. They weren't even divers when they came for a job. Unlike Tioman or Manado dive centres there are permanent divemasters or those who have worked there for many years. But what I don't understand is why aren't there experienced divemasters around?

All in all, it's a disappointing trip. Not only the dive centre didn't provide acceptable-level service, the dive sites were disappointing. Sipadan is so famous. So called world class diving. But the amount of corals... were devastating to look at. What on earth happened to the corals?? Sipadan has been famous for so many years, never would we had imagine seeing such a devastating state of coral life...

Many dives I was so bored that I played around by swimming in different styles... If not for the pelagics (sharks, turtles, dolphins, whale shark, etc..) that visit Sipadan, it would be... ... ... I don't even want to think about it...

Diving trip Mar'06 - Sipadan (1)

Us at the airport. I forgot whether this is Senai, K.Kinabalu or Kuching airport... Think it's not Senai. We took 3 flights in a day... I've got my "piggy" accompanied me for the trip (see my backpack).

Airport by the sea, should be K.Kinabalu Airport..

Here's our destination~! Sipadan Water Village which is situated not in Sipadan itself but Mabul.

The staffs were there to welcome us.

My hair was a mess as I just had a quick shower (without washing my hair) before dinner. We were required to wear proper attire, no bikinis, no wet clothings at the restaurant... So after the dives, we had to change our clothes, same for both lunch and dinner. I find that very troublesome. I like to dine in bikini. Save all the trouble of changing clothes..

Notice the dead corals... 满目凔痍...

This is the famous Drop-off. It doesn't give you the "wow" factor, does it? As the viz was quite bad.

Lots of bannerfish and triggerfish.

Lionfish.

Moral eel, see its sharp teeth, grows backwards like snakes.

Turtle~! It was sleeping. As I've mentioned, the turtles here are very cute, weren't afraid of divers at all.

Batfish.

One of my favourites, barracudas~~ very big.

Diving trip Mar'06 - Sipadan (2)

First time I saw garden eels.

White tip shark.

I was on another boat, separated from my best buddy... so sad...

We saw hundreds of dolphins~~!!!!! Fantastic~~~!!!!! It was the first day, I didn't take my camera as I was experiencing vertigo underwater during the 1st dive. So I didn't take any photos of them. This photo is from Gabriel's camera. It was difficult to take photos as it's difficult to see the LCD screen (in the camera housing) under the sun. Everyone just anyhow snap and snap and snap. This is lucky photo.
The pod was sooo... big, covered a big area of the sea when we saw them. Our boats came so close to them, we can almost touch them~!! They should be spinner dolphins. There were lots of mother and calves. It was soooooo.. cute....... Amazing~!

Divemasters diving into the sea. The female divemaster kept dive face down to the sea... ouch...

A frog fish.

Lots of hermit crabs here.

Very beautiful juvenile batfish.

Funny looking sponge crab...

Shrimp~

Baby squid... very cute~~!! This is the only decent photo I managed to take.
Early morning at 6+am. We had to go out diving at 7:15am.

Gabriel with crocodile fish.

Me with crocodile fish.
