Rape case again

There had been another rape case in Malaysia, Sungai Petani. The girl went exercise around 5+pm with her sister. (I saw the headline in Spore paper today that, that was the first time she went jogging...) They were some distance apart. Afterwards the younger sister couldn't find her elder sister.... She was then found naked the next day. Raped before killed.

Rape happens almost everyday... At times, it's extremely disheartening to read the papers. Tragedies happen everywhere, everyday... young women raped, kids even...

What's sadder is, there are people who tend to put the blame on the woman. "Who asked her to go out at such late hours?" "She must have worn too skimpy." ...... (I'm NOT refering to this particular case) Even if she had wore skimpy clothes, even if she went out late... is it her fault that she got raped? Does it mean we're giving the green light to rapist SHOULD WE EVER wear skimpy clothes?? Does that mean we're GIVING THE RAPIST permission?? NO! Why are people's first reaction is "the victim was at fault." ?? Almost as if they're saying that she deserves it.

Most of the time, it's not about the clothes. THAT may OR may not be a contributing factor. But the real problem lies with the rapist! Many molesters would molest girls in school uniforms. And school uniforms are not skimpy.

What angers me is, why aren't people's first reaction is to condemn the rapist but the victim?? (I know NOT everybody thinks that way but there ARE people who think like that.) The rapist broke the law for heaven'ts sake... If the victim really had worn skimpy clothes and contributed to the attack, she is NOT wrong, she is NOT at fault! You can call her unwise but she did not do anything that breaks the law! Why are there people who would put the blame on the girl?? It's like you stepped on someone's naked foot/toes and you told him off, "Who asked you to put out your foot?".... It's so unfair, SO... unfair.

The more uncivilize and conservative a societies is the more they put the blame on to the women. Uncivilize is definitely bad, and overly conservative is no good too. like making women cover up their face, wear glove and etc.

Wearing skimpy clothes in some third world countries is breaking their law and may have to be stone to death. so it all depending on how you look at the situation and where you are too. try saying this in middle east or north east of the peninsular and see what u will get.
